Digital nomad visas let remote workers live and work in another country for a limited time while staying with their current job or company. This page is designed to help inform and facilitate the process to apply to this type of visa by consolidating information, resources, and related links.
Although Mexico does not currently have a specific digital nomad visa, many nomads are on the “Temporary Resident Visa”. Official link found here.
Who can apply?: Anyone over 18
Duration: Valid for 1 year (extendable up to 4 years, then convertible to Permanent Residence)
Cost: $40 USD for a visa + $5328 MXN ($262 USD at current exchange) for a Temporary Resident card

💰 Requirements
Monthly income of $1,946 USD (after taxes) for at least 6 months
OR
Bank or investment account balance of at least $32,426 USD for the past 12 months

Must apply from outside of Mexico, preferably in your country of Citizenship
From outside of Mexico
Schedule an appointment with the embassy or consulate
Visas are generally issued same-day, depending on the embassy
Once you arrive in Mexico
Visit an Instutito National de Migración (INM) to obtain your Temporary Residency card

Double check requirements from your local embassy or consulate before you apply. Different consulates may ask for documents in different formats, or require you schedule your apppointment through a different system.
