Thai is the official language, and widely spoken. However, the country is very tourist-friendly and most areas will also speak some English.
It is hot and very humid, with the winters slightly cooler, but rainy.
The country is diverse in geography and topography and there's quite a bit to do, with mountains and forests in the north, islands in the south, and loads of national parks in between, with ornate temples and museums everywhere.
Transit is pretty area-dependent, with Bangkok boosting an excellent rail system and buses as fairly reliable in other cities. Grabs (rideshare) and other taxis are also very ubiquitous and low-cost.
