    • Thai is the official language, and widely spoken. However, the country is very tourist-friendly and most areas will also speak some English.

    • It is hot and very humid, with the winters slightly cooler, but rainy.

    • The country is diverse in geography and topography and there's quite a bit to do, with mountains and forests in the north, islands in the south, and loads of national parks in between, with ornate temples and museums everywhere.

    • Transit is pretty area-dependent, with Bangkok boosting an excellent rail system and buses as fairly reliable in other cities. Grabs (rideshare) and other taxis are also very ubiquitous and low-cost.
