New Zealand

Digital nomad visas let remote workers live and work in another country for a limited time while staying with their current job or company. This page is designed to help inform and facilitate the process to apply to this type of visa by consolidating information, resources, and related links.

New Zealand offers two options for digital nomads depending on your country of origin, either a Visitor Visa with loosened restrictions and extended stay options or a NZeTA.

Most recent updates are new as of March 2025. Official link found here.

✍️ Application process

Online application and complete traveller declaration

    • The vast majority of people in New Zealand speak English

    • New Zealand has seasons that run opposite to the seasons in the northern hemisphere (think winter in July). The majority of New Zealand has temperate winters and hot summers, although the more south you go, the colder it will get

    • There is an incredible amount of nature to explore and outdoors activities to partake in. A few notable "bucket list" items are: exploring the town that inspired the Shire, whale watching, stargazing, and seeing the southern lights.

    • Transit is intermittent - in the cities, there are bus systems and/or ferries, but typically cars are the predominant method of travel
